Shopify Sidekick integrates with the Bulk Discount Code Bot app so you can search for discount sets, run audits, and create codes via conversational prompts.
Merchants use this integration to manage discounts without needing to navigate the entire app interface. It's particularly useful when you want quick answers or wish to start a task directly from the Shopify admin. This guide explains what you can accomplish with Sidekick in the Bulk Discount Code Bot app.
What you can do with Sidekick and the Bulk Discount Code Bot app
Sidekick is Shopify's built-in AI assistant, accessed from the Shopify admin.
When paired with the Bulk Discount Code Bot app, Sidekick handles three kinds of tasks:
Searching and browsing existing discount sets,
Pulling discount health audits,
Starting new bulk discount code sets.
Sidekick opens pre-filled forms and returns information, but you confirm and complete key actions in the app.
Search and browse discount sets
Ask Sidekick to find discount sets in the Bulk Discount Code Bot app without opening the app yourself.
Search by name, code count, or prefix/suffix.
Filter by campaign, channel, or department.
Note:
Department is available on the Grow plan only.
Analyze your discount risk audit
Ask Sidekick to analyze your most recent discount risk audit. The audit reviews all active Shopify discounts and flags those missing recommended safeguards, including:
No expiration date
Unlimited uses
100% off discounts
Note:
The discount risk audit checks all Shopify discounts on your account, not only those created in the Bulk Discount Code Bot app. It is available to merchants on the Grow plan and the Grow trial.
Create bulk discount codes
Ask Sidekick to create a new discount set. Sidekick opens a pre-filled form, where you choose one of three code sources:
Generated codes: set the quantity, character type, length, and an optional prefix or suffix.
Manual codes: paste in a list of codes.
CSV upload: Sidekick opens the form, but you upload the CSV file in the app.
Note:
For a CSV upload, Sidekick opens the upload form for you, but you must select and upload the file yourself; Sidekick cannot attach the file for you.
As part of the creation flow, you can also set up tracking and Klaviyo sync.
Set up tracking
Assign the discount set to a campaign or channel so you can report on discount performance later.
Note:
Department tracking is available on the Grow plan only.
Configure Klaviyo sync
Tell Sidekick to sync with Klaviyo to turn on Klaviyo syncing for the discount set, so new codes appear automatically on Klaviyo's API Coupons page.
Sidekick sets this up in the Integrations section of the form using the Sync with Klaviyo option.
To keep a discount set replenished, you can also select Automatically add new codes and enter a Minimum threshold; when available codes fall below this number, the app generates more at the next hourly sync.
Note:
When adding new codes automatically, the app doubles the minimum threshold.
For example, a minimum threshold of 500 adds 1,000 codes when available codes fall below 500.
FAQs
Can Sidekick upload a CSV of codes for me?
No. Sidekick opens the pre-filled form, but you must select and upload the CSV file yourself in the Bulk Discount Code Bot app.
Does the Discount risk audit only check codes made in the app?
No. The audit reviews all Shopify discounts on your account, including those created outside the Bulk Discount Code Bot app.
Do I need Shopify Plus to run the Discount risk audit?
No. The audit is available to merchants on the Grow plan and the Grow trial, as well as all Shopify Plus merchants subscribed to the app.
Why aren't my existing codes syncing to Klaviyo?
Only codes created after you enable Sync with Klaviyo will sync. Codes created before activation will not sync.
Why are my available codes below the minimum threshold?
Discount sets sync once per hour. Wait for the next hourly sync for new codes to appear in Klaviyo.
Which features require the Grow plan?
Department tracking, Klaviyo sync, and the Discount risk audit require the Grow plan. The Discount risk audit is also available on the Grow trial and to Shopify Plus merchants.
