How to connect a customer-tagged automation to popups in Seguno Email Marketing

Send targeted emails to popup subscribers by connecting a customer-tagged automation in Seguno Email Marketing to Seguno Popups & Forms.

Customer-tagged automations in Seguno Email Marketing let you send targeted emails to subscribers who were tagged through a popup. Use this feature to trigger an email based on a specific popup event or a subscriber's stated interests.

Connect a customer-tagged automation to a popup

To connect a customer-tagged automation in Seguno Email Marketing to Seguno Popups & Forms:

  1. Open Seguno Popups & Forms > Popups.

  2. Create a popup.

  3. Open Seguno Email Marketing > Automations.

  4. In the trigger settings, select the customer tag associated with the popup.

  5. Activate the customer-tagged automation and the popup.

Add a popup-specific tag

A popup-specific tag is applied to all subscribers who complete the call-to-action (CTA) on the popup. Use this when you want every submission to trigger the same automation.

  1. Open Seguno Popups & Forms > Popups.

  2. Select the popup design.

  3. Click Edit in the Tags section.

  4. Enter a unique tag to apply to all popup subscribers.

  5. Click Save.

Add a choice list-specific tag

A choice list lets you tag subscribers based on their selected interests. Each choice in the list applies a unique tag, which you can then use to trigger a separate customer-tagged automation in Seguno Email Marketing.

  1. Open Seguno Popups & Forms > Popups.

  2. Select the popup design.

  3. Navigate to the Forms section and add a drop-down to the popup.

  4. Enter a unique tag for each choice option.

Tip:

Use descriptive tags (for example, "interest-skincare" or "interest-haircare") so they are easy to identify when setting up the automation trigger in Seguno Email Marketing.

FAQs

I have a welcome automation and a customer-tagged automation active. Should I send subscribers both?

  • Customer-tagged automations trigger when the selected tag is added to a subscriber. If the popup targets new subscribers, you can skip the regular welcome automation by selecting Skip sending the welcome automation email in the trigger settings of the customer-tagged automation.

I'm not using Seguno Popups & Forms. Can I connect the customer-tagged automation to another popup app?

  • Yes. As long as your popup app tags subscribers and updates your Shopify Customers, a customer-tagged automation in Seguno Email Marketing will trigger correctly.
