Shopify allows customers to apply more than one discount code at checkout when discount combinations are enabled. This article shows how to turn on combinations and how to manage them for codes created through the Bulk Discount Code Bot app.
Steps to enable discount combinations
Shopify discount codes fall under three classes: order, product, and shipping. You can choose which types can be combined.
Discounts generated in the Bulk Discount Code Bot app must be configured in Shopify to enable combining.
Steps
Create the discount set in the Bulk Discount Code Bot app.
Click More actions (…) and select Go to discount.
In Shopify, scroll to the Combinations section.
Select the discount types this code can combine with.
Click Save.
Note:
Shopify applies the best eligible combination based on the cart and may ignore weaker discounts.
How to create a multi-type discount
There may be times when you want to offer both a product and a shipping discount within the same code. Shopify's discount settings do not allow creating codes that contain multiple types of discounts in the same discount code. To ensure your customers get the best possible discount, allow discount combinations.
To allow your customers to apply multiple product, shipping, or order discounts to the same order:
Create two discounts in Bulk Discount Code Bot
(ex: a 10% off shirts discount and a free shipping discount.)
Open each discount in Shopify.
In each discount’s Combinations section, select the discount types it can combine with.
Click Save for both discounts.
Warning:
Automatic discounts cannot combine with discount codes. If an automatic discount is active, combination behavior may be blocked.
FAQs
Can one discount code contain multiple discount types?
No. Shopify does not support multiple discount types within a single code. Use separate codes and enable discount combinations.
Do customers need to enter both codes?
Yes. Each discount must be entered individually.
Why didn’t both discounts apply even though combinations were enabled?
Shopify applies the single best discount outcome. If one code provides a greater benefit, other codes may not appear.
Do combination settings apply to codes generated by Bulk Discount Code Bot?
The app generates the code, but the combination settings are always modified in Shopify’s Discounts page.
Do discount combinations work with automatic discounts?
No. Shopify does not allow combining automatic discounts with discount codes.
