The Back in Stock marketing automation alerts shoppers when a product is back in stock and available for purchase. When shoppers subscribe to restock alerts on your Shopify site, Seguno will send an automated email when the item is in inventory.
Seguno’s Back in Stock trigger pairs Seguno’s editor with Shopify’s workflow builder. Two steps are required to set up the Back in Stock automation: 1) adding the Back in Stock app block to your storefront and 2) creating the automation in Shopify.
Note: The Back in Stock automation is a paid feature in Seguno.
Warning: The Back in Stock automation is only available for shops using a Shopify 2.0 theme. Contact Seguno support for guidance to implement Back in Stock on legacy themes.
Add the Back in Stock app block to your storefront
Seguno tracks restock alert requests through an app block that is added to your storefront. Before creating the automation, you must add the Back in Stock app block to all product pages. The app block appears when product inventory is zero. Once the inventory has been updated to one or greater, the app block will not appear on the product page.
To add the Back in Stock app block:
Open your Shopify theme
Select the Products page
Under Product information, click Add block
Under the Apps section, select Back in Stock by Seguno
Note: If you have multiple product pages, you will need to add the Back in Stock app block to each product page.
To add a newsletter sign-up to the Back in Stock app block:
Click on the Back in Stock app block
Select the Show newsletter signup checkbox
Create the automation in Shopify
Once the app block is set up, it is time to customize and activate the automation. The automation template includes a Seguno marketing email action. This email utilizes Seguno email templates and editor.
All templates will automatically include a dynamic section that will populate the details and image of the item that is back in stock.
To create a Back in Stock automation:
Navigate to the Automations page
From the Back in Stock section, click Create automation
From the automation templates, select Send a back in stock email by Seguno
Click on the marketing email action, click select a template
Select a template, click customize
Edit the email, click Save, click Exit
To activate the automation, click Turn on workflow
Tip: Utilize Seguno’s recommended email template for fast editing.
Exclude Back in Stock registrations for certain products
There may be instances where you want to avoid giving shoppers the option to register for Back in Stock notifications for a certain product. To exclude a product, add an exclusion tag. Seguno reads the tag and will not show the Back in Stock app block for the related products.
To exclude products from Back in Stock registrations:
Select the Back in Stock app block on your Shopify site
By default, the exclusion tag is set to “back-in-stock-excluded” you can update this tag to be more personalized to your shop in the Product exclusion tag textfield
From your Shopify Admin, go to Products
Select the product you want to exclude
In the tag section, enter the exclusion tag
Note: The Back in Stock automation only supports products that are available for online sale. This means that products that are available in locations that do not fulfill online orders will not be included in the automation. To ensure your products are available online, go to your Shopify Settings, click Locations, choose a location, click fulfillment details, and select the "fulfill online orders for from this location" checkbox".
Set an inventory threshold
Configure the inventory threshold to determine when the back-in-stock automation is triggered. The threshold is the minimum amount of available-online inventory that must be met before a restock alert is sent. By default, the threshold is set to one.
Updating the threshold applies to all Back in Stock automations and all products.
To edit the inventory threshold:
Navigate to the Automations page
From the Back in Stock section, click Set threshold
Enter the inventory threshold in the Inventory threshold text field
Click Save
View Back in Stock registrations
View the list of registrants who are waiting for out-of-stock products. The Back in Stock registrants page shows the list of products with back-in-stock registrations. Click on a particular product to view the full list of registrations.

FAQS
How do I migrate data from my previous Back in Stock app?
For migration support, reach out to Seguno support. Our team is here to assist in migrating your data.
How many products can I apply a notification to?
Apply the Back in Stock alert to as many products as you’d like; there’s no limit.
There’s no need to manually add the request form to every product — just your product page template(s). And if there are certain products you want to exclude from alerts, add an exclusion tag. By default, the product tag used is “back-in-stock-excluded,” but that can be changed in the app block’s settings.
When someone signs up for a Back in Stock notification, are they added to my subscriber list?
No. Signing up for a Back In Stock email does not equal consent for receiving a brand’s email newsletter. Shoppers are only giving permission to receive a transactional email about updates for a specific out-of-stock product. However, you can add a newsletter signup checkbox to the app block form. Customers who select the checkbox will be marked as subscribed for marketing emails.
