Seguno users can leverage Seguno emails within a Shopify abandonment automation workflow to send Abandoned Cart automations. This feature allows you to take full advantage of both Seguno's Editor and the customizable logic of Shopify abandonment automations to drive more sales.
Note: If you'd like a headstart, you can download our abandoned browse automation template below and adjust the final settings to your store.
If you'd like to do it yourself, please follow the creation guide below.
Download our Abandoned Cart Automation template
You can download our Abandoned Cart automation template and import it directly into your Flow app.
Once you've imported it to your Flow app, select the template and click Edit
Every node can be configured to your preferences:
Click on the final node labeled Do this... Send abandonment email
Click Select template

To add this template to your Flow app, please follow this guide created by Shopify: Creating workflows using templates.
Create an Abandoned Cart Automation
Seguno leverages Shopify's automation workflows to send Abandoned Cart automations.
To create an Abandoned Cart Automation:
From your Shopify Admin, navigate to Marketing, then Automations
Click Create automation
Select the Automation cart template
Click Edit
Hover over the Send Marketing Email node and click Delete
In the last node of the workflow, click the Then plus icon
Select Action
In the Installed App Actions, select Seguno Email Marketing
Select Send abandonment email
Click Select template
Select the abandoned cart template
Complete the automation setup page, click Create email
Customize the email, click Save
To return to the automation workflow, click Exit
To turn on the automation, click Turn on workflow
Warning: The Shopify automation workflow and the Seguno abandonment template must match in order for the automation to trigger successfully. For example, if you are using the abandoned cart workflow template in Shopify you must choose the corresponding abandoned cart email template from Seguno.
Note: Creating a Seguno email within a Shopify marketing automation will automatically activate the automation in Seguno, but the automation will only send once it is turned on in Shopify. To begin triggering the automation, turn on the automation in Shopify.
Once you’ve created a Seguno email within a Shopify abandonment automation, you can view and edit the automation in Seguno.
To view and edit the email in Seguno:
Navigate to the Automations page
From the Abandonment section, select the automation
From the Automation details page you can make additional edits to the automation
Customize the Abandoned Cart automation
The Shopify automation workflow templates pre-select conditions and actions to save you time and ensure the automation is set up correctly. We recommend you do not modify the workflow with exception to the below options.
Edit the wait period
The wait period determines the amount of time between the abandoned cart and the email trigger.
To edit the automation delay:
Select the workflow in Shopify, click Edit workflow
Select the “Wait for” node
Edit the delay settings
Edit the rest period
If a customer is a frequent visitor to your site, it is not recommended to send an abandonment email after every cart abandonment. The rest period is used to check if a customer has received an abandonment email within the defined timeframe. If a subscriber has received an email within the rest period, Seguno will not trigger the abandoned cart automation.
To edit the rest period:
Select the workflow in Shopify, click Edit workflow
Select the rest period node
Edit the days since last abandonment email
Click Edit description
Update the text to match the new rest period
Transactional sending
By default, abandoned cart automations are only sent to subscribed contacts as marketing emails. However, since your shoppers have started the checkout process, the first email of the automation can be configured to send to all shoppers and be considered a transactional email. Remember to check your local laws to ensure compliance.
Warning: Transactional sending is not supported for the Abandoned Browse automation.
To approve the first email as transactional:
Create and turn on the abandonment cart automation in Shopify (link to section above)
In Seguno, navigate to the Automations page
From the Abandonment section, select the abandoned cart automation
In the Start card, click Edit
Select the Approve first email as transactional checkbox, click Save
