Configure conversion tracking in Seguno Email Marketing

Configure conversion tracking in Seguno Email Marketing. Choose what counts as engagement and how many days an email gets credit.

Conversion tracking in Seguno Email Marketing credits a sale to the last email a subscriber engaged with before placing an order.

Two settings control the revenue reported on every newsletter and automation:

  • What counts as engagement?

  • How many days does an email get credit?

You choose both during setup and can change them at any time in Settings.

How conversion tracking works

When a subscriber places an order, Seguno Email Marketing credits the sale to the last email that they engaged with.

The sale counts as a conversion only if the engagement matches your Engagement type and the order happens within your Attribution window.

Engagement type options:

  • Clicks only (Recommended): Only a click earns credit. Reported revenue may be lower, because every sale counted came from a subscriber who reached your online store through the email.

  • Opens and clicks: An open earns credit too, even without a click. Reported revenue is higher and closer to what most email apps show.

Note:

Email apps can record opens that the subscriber never made, so Opens and clicks can credit an email for sales it did not drive. Seguno recommends Clicks only.

The Attribution window is the number of days after an engagement during which a sale is considered a conversion. A shorter window results in fewer credited sales, but aligns them more closely with the email. Seguno recommends a 5-day window.

Set up conversion tracking during onboarding

Seguno Email Marketing shows the Conversion tracking setup screen during onboarding.

To set up conversion tracking:

  1. Under What should count as engagement?, select Clicks only or Opens and clicks.

  2. Under How long should an email get credit?, enter the number of days.

  3. Click Continue to dashboard.

Compare with your previous email app

If you transitioned to Seguno Email Marketing from another email application, the conversion tracking setup screen will display how that previous app counted conversions by default. This is why the revenue reported in Seguno Email Marketing may differ from what you saw in your previous email app.

Note:

These are the default settings for each app. If you modified the settings in your previous email app, your past revenue was based on those custom settings instead.

Change conversion tracking settings

Change the engagement type and attribution window at any time in the Conversions section of Seguno Email Marketing Settings.

To change conversion tracking settings:

  1. In Seguno Email Marketing, click Settings.

  2. Scroll to the Conversions section.

  3. Select Clicks only or Opens and clicks from the Engagement type drop-down menu.

  4. Enter the number of days in the Attribution window field.

  5. Click Save.

Warning:

New settings change the revenue reported on newsletters and automations from that point forward. Sales already attributed keep the credit they were given.

Note:

Conversion tracking requires the Track email opens and link clicks checkbox in Settings. If the checkbox is cleared, engagement data and conversion tracking are unavailable.

FAQs

Why is my revenue in Seguno Email Marketing different from my previous email app?

  • Each email app counts conversions differently. For example, Shopify Email credits the last click within 30 days, and Omnisend counts opens or clicks within 7 days. Seguno Email Marketing recommends clicks only within 5 days, which usually reports less revenue but ties each sale more closely to the email.

Should I count opens or only clicks?

  • Seguno recommends Clicks only. Email apps can record opens the subscriber never made, so counting opens can credit emails for sales they did not drive.

Does changing conversion settings update past reports?

  • No. New settings apply from the moment they are saved. Sales already attributed keep the credit they were given.

Why is no conversion data showing?

  • Check that Track email opens and link clicks is selected in Settings. Conversion tracking is unavailable when this checkbox is cleared.
