Seguno Email Marketing tracks email-attributed sales using its native Shopify integration. A sale counts as a conversion when a subscriber engages with an email and places an order within your attribution window. You choose what counts as engagement and set an attribution window of up to 30 days in Settings.
Lifetime conversions appear on your Dashboard, and each newsletter and active automation displays the revenue it has generated individually.
How a conversion is defined
Seguno Email Marketing records an order as a conversion when both of these are true:
The subscriber engaged with an email, based on your Engagement type setting.
The subscriber placed the order within your Attribution window.
By default, Seguno Email Marketing counts clicks only and uses a five-day attribution window. A subscriber can convert from the same email more than once.
How revenue is attributed when a customer clicks multiple emails
If a subscriber engages with more than one email within the attribution window, Seguno Email Marketing attributes the order to the most recent email the subscriber engaged with.
How conversion tracking works without cookies or scripts
Seguno Email Marketing does not rely on cookies or on-site scripts. Instead, the Shopify integration links each customer's most recent order to that customer's most recent email engagement in your Shopify admin. This approach keeps data accurate and supports cross-device conversions, where a customer clicks an email on one device and completes the order on another.
Conversion accuracy and differences from other platforms
Seguno Email Marketing follows industry-wide best practices for click-based attribution with a five-day window. It does not use partial attribution, so results may differ slightly from other tracking models.
If you are migrating from another email platform, compare the attribution settings from your previous provider directly. Some platforms use different attribution windows or trigger events (such as email opens) that can overstate performance compared to Seguno Email Marketing, Shopify, and other analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
Conversion settings
Seguno Email Marketing has two conversion settings. You can change both at any time in Settings.
Engagement type: Choose what earns an email credit for a sale.
Clicks only (Recommended): Only a click earns credit. Every sale counted came from a subscriber who reached your online store through email.
Opens and clicks: An open earns credit too, even without a click. Reported revenue is higher and more in line with what most email platforms show.
Attribution window: The number of days after an engagement during which an order still counts as a conversion, up to 30 days. A shorter window credits fewer sales but ties each sale more closely to the email. Seguno recommends 5 days.
To change your conversion settings:
In Seguno Email Marketing, click Settings.
Scroll to the Conversions section.
Select Clicks only or Opens and clicks from the Engagement type drop-down menu.
Enter the number of days in the Attribution window field.
Click Save.
Notes:
Email apps can record opens that the subscriber never made, so Opens and clicks can credit an email for sales it did not drive.
Conversion tracking requires the Track email opens, and link clicks checkbox in Settings. If the checkbox is cleared, conversion tracking is unavailable.
Warning:
New settings change the revenue reported on newsletters and automations from the moment you save them. Sales already attributed keep the credit they were given.
