How to grow your subscriber list

Learn which tools and Shopify theme settings help you grow your subscriber list.

Growing a healthy, organic email list is essential for long-term success in email marketing. Enhance your paid ads and SEO efforts by converting more anonymous shoppers into subscribing prospects using these tools.

Apps, connections, and forms

Any app you use to collect subscribers must update the Shopify Customer record and set the Accepts email marketing attribute. When an app updates the customer record correctly, Seguno Email Marketing automatically recognizes the subscribers on your email lists.

Popups

A popup collects email or SMS signups without requiring a dedicated page. Popups also support announcements and shopper guidance.

Recommended app:

Seguno: Popups integrates directly with Shopify Customers and Seguno Email Marketing for newsletters and automations.

Tip:

Be mindful not to overwhelm new shoppers with too many notifications when they first visit your site. Launching browser-based push notifications, support chat, social proof banners, and pop-ups all at once can cause confusion.

Website banners

A persistent banner displays a signup form without interrupting the shopping experience. Shoppers can opt in at any point while browsing.

Recommended app:

Seguno's Dynamic Banner Suite is available free to all Seguno Email Marketing users. It also supports cart-size incentives and site announcements.

Facebook Leads connection

Connect your Facebook business page to sync new subscribers from active Lead Ads into Seguno Email Marketing. Seguno automatically creates new Shopify Customer records as prospects sign up.

Newsletter form

Seguno Email Marketing includes a hosted newsletter form you can link to from your site navigation. Open Settings in Seguno Email Marketing, copy the landing page URL, then add it as a menu item in your Shopify Online Store.

Tip:

If you collect subscribers outside Shopify, for example, at a market or through a third-party point-of-sale, integrate those sources with Shopify directly when possible. If automated integration is not available, import new subscribers promptly so they receive timely emails.
