Seguno: Email Marketing requires specific elements in every marketing email to comply with anti-spam laws and protect deliverability. This article explains the required sections, why they matter, and how to activate required features such as Spam Protect.
Unsubscribe button requirements
All marketing emails must include a visible unsubscribe option. This is required by the CAN-SPAM Act(Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act) and other anti-spam regulations.
Unsubscribe button in the footer
The unsubscribe link in the footer is mandatory and cannot be removed in Seguno: Email Marketing.
Why this matters:
Required for legal compliance
Builds trust with subscribers
Reduces spam complaints
Protects deliverability
If the sending domain is authenticated, Seguno allows removal of the unsubscribe border for design preferences. The unsubscribe link itself cannot be removed.
Unsubscribe button in the header
After authenticating the sending domain, Seguno allows removing the unsubscribe link from the email header.
Best practice:
Include the header unsubscribe link in all marketing emails. Providing multiple unsubscribe options reduces spam complaints and improves deliverability.
Note:
Transactional emails follow different legal standards. This article applies to marketing emails such as newsletters and automations.
Mailing address requirements
All marketing emails must include a physical mailing address in the footer. Anti-spam laws require this information in every commercial message.
Options for mailing address:
Retail or brick-and-mortar location
Corporate office address
P.O. box
When installing Seguno: Email Marketing, the app automatically pulls the business address from Shopify store settings.
To update the mailing address:
Open Seguno Email Marketing.
Click Settings.
Select Company details.
Update the address fields.
Click Save.
Tip:
Keep the mailing address current to avoid compliance issues.
Spam Protect requirements
Spam Protect is required before sending newsletters or automations in Seguno: Email Marketing. Spam Protect monitors subscriber lists and automatically removes invalid or risky email addresses.
Why Spam Protect is required:
Removes fake or bot signups
Prevents hard bounces
Reduces spam complaints
Protects overall deliverability
Even a small number of bounces or spam complaints can negatively impact inbox placement.
You cannot send newsletters or automations until Spam Protect is activated.
Activate Spam Protect
Open Seguno Email Marketing.
Locate the yellow notification banner across the top of the app, prompting activation.
Review the estimated number of subscribers that will be cleaned.
Click Activate.
After activation, a green confirmation banner appears, indicating that newsletters and automations can be sent.
Warning:
Disabling list hygiene practices can reduce deliverability and impact future campaign performance.
