Seguno makes it easy to share codes through your emails. Create generic or unique discount codes to be used in newsletters and automations. Coupon codes are automatically applied for your recipients when they click any link taking them to your shop.
Create discount codes in Shopify
Seguno leverages the discounts you create in Shopify. Before including a discount in your Seguno emails, you'll need to create an active code in your Shopify admin.
When adding the discount in Seguno you will search by the discount name. All configured pricing rules will be noted in the email's discount banner and/or discount callout section. For discounts intended to be used in automations, do not add an end date as subscribers will trigger the automation at different times.
Note: Seguno will only share discount codes and does not use Shopify's automatic discounts. To learn more about the difference between the two types of discounts, refer to the Shopify documentation.
Add a discount to a newsletter
Once you've created the discount in Shopify, you can add it to any Seguno email.
To create a new newsletter with a discount:
Navigate to the Newsletters page.
Click Create Newsletter.
Select a template.
In the Discount section, select Share the same code with all recipients or Generate a unique code for each recipient.
Type in the Shopify discount title and a checkmark will appear if the discount code is active and able to be used in email.
To add a discount to an existing newsletter draft:
Navigate to the Newsletters page.
Select the newsletter title.
In the Discount section, click Edit.
Select Share the same code with all recipients or Generate a unique code for each recipient.
Type in the Shopify discount title and a checkmark will appear if the discount code is active and able to be used in email.
Click Save.
Add a discount to an automation
For multi-email automations, a discount can be added to the entire series or individual emails. If there are multiple emails in the automation, the discount will need to be assigned to each email in the series. You can choose to offer the same discount or different discounts per email.
To add a discount to an automation email:
Open the Automation.
In the email card, select the Actions dropdown.
Select Edit discount.
Select Share the same code with all recipients or Generate a unique code for each recipient.
In the Discount code textfield, type in the discount title
Click Save.
With automations, Seguno adds more power to unique codes by allowing you to expire unused codes to create a sense of urgency with your recipients. The Seguno-applied expiration date will update as the subscriber moves through the series.
Note: If the same discount is included in multiple emails in a series, each recipient's unique code will remain the same throughout the series, and the discount expiration date will be based on when that code was first delivered to the recipient.
Warning: Codes are only deleted if they are not used prior to the end date. To avoid codes being used multiple times, do not set an end date but set a usage limit on the Discount in your Shopify admin.
Discount sections in your email
When a discount is assigned to an email, Seguno will automatically display the discount terms in your email and apply the code through any links directing to your site.
Discount banner
As a default, the discount banner will be added below the email header.
Any discount eligibility rules will be added in a second banner above the email footer. If there are no eligibility rules, the discount details banner will not be included. If you need to include additional disclaimer information, use the company policies text section in your Footer.
Discount callout section
The discount callout section highlights the discount within the email and includes all details of the discount with a button calling your recipient to action.
Note: Discount summaries are automatically updated based on the discount terms from your Shopify discount. To update the verbiage, go to Seguno Settings, Localization, and click Edit languages. Updates made to this verbiage will be the default verbiage for all Seguno emails.
Hide the discount banner
To hide the discount banner:
Open the Editor.
Add the Discount callout section.
Uncheck the Show discount banner checkbox.
Use unique discount codes
When creating a discount, you have the option to Share the same code with all recipients or Generate a unique code for each recipient. By selecting to generate unique codes, Seguno will create a unique 6-character code specific to each recipient.
Unique codes are alphanumeric and designed to avoid spelling any words. When using unique codes, all usage reporting will show under the assigned discount code name.
Note: Unique discount codes included in test emails or feedback requests will not be working codes to avoid reporting issues.
Find your subscriber's available discount codes
Once a code has been sent to your subscribers through a Seguno email, it will be listed in their subscriber profile as long as it is active.
To view active discount codes for a subscriber:
From your Shopify admin, go to Customers.
Search for the subscriber and open their profile.
Click the More Actions dropdown.
Select View subscriber profile.
In the Recent discounts card, view all active discounts.
